what home lan ip address is best to use?

Just about to set up a home wireless lan.
hardware:
PC1 - running XP home.
PC2 - running XP home (new PC to be delivered soon)
Etec ADSL wireless Modem/Router
Peak wireless lan USB 2 adapter

Query is;
the Etec comes with a default IP of 10.0.0.2
I seem to remember someone mentioning that 192.168.x.x is a better option to go for with home networks.
Is it adviseable to change the router to a 192.168.1.1 IP address?
Any advise greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PC1 will be cable connected to the router.
PC2 will have the Peak adapter and wireless connect to the router because it will be situated upstairs and away from any phone socket.

You gain nothing by changing the IP address. 10.x.x.x is a valid private IP range, as is 192.168.x.x

The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) has reserved the following three blocks of the IP address space for private internets (local networks):

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255


Also, IP addresses in the range of 169.254.0.0 -169.254.255.255 are reserved for Automatic Private IP Addressing.

Your choice of private subnet is a neutral one; there is not a better choice of the three ranges available.
