Hi all! Total noob question here;

I want to start backing up my server data to disk, then to tape for long term off-site storage.

I already have a tape libray that is attached thru SCSI to the backup server.

Do I need a special kind of disk system to start backing data up to disk? Or can I just use a regular SCSI drive array?

If I do need special hardware, any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Hardware wise you need Hard Drives attached to some device.

you can have an array attached to a server, or you can have a NAS server sharing space. Doesn't matter.

then you need a backup package that can utilize backup to disk, either using Virtual Tape or Disk Imaging.

So you don't need any special hardware.

Thanks, that's what I thought but I just wanted confirmation.

Thanks again!
