I've noticed as I work on my project (which has 16 layers of audio) that I can basically highlight a track by clicking on it. This doesn't seem to be related to anything that I can tell. I can edit clips on non-highlighted tracks, for instance.

What does this highlighting mean, practically?

Cheers,

Highlighting the track name means that next time you use one of the automatic clip placement options from the source side of the monitor window, that track will be the target (one each for audio and video can be highlighted).

This is a quicker way to select target tracks than using the dropdown lists in the monitor window.

Ah. So in my case, there's no real function. Okay.

Thanks!
