Hi Folks - Can anyone explain to me why a "?" appears after the duration in MS Project 2010?

I know it has something to do with the automatic scheduling function but I've not been able to find a good explanation either within the Help function or anywhere else for that matter.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The ? in the duration fields indicates an "Estimated Duration". If you do not enter a duration, project will automatically set the duration as 1d?

You may also mark a task with estimated duration by:
Manually typing the ?
Selecting the "Estimated" check box on Task Information

If you do not find the ? useful, you may turn it off globally through File > Options, Schedule and uncheck "Show that tasks have estimated durations" and "New scheduled tasks have estimated durations.

Thanks, Julie! Helpful as always.
