can u tell me why i get this please i still get the svchost.exe error ....thanx

As I said in your other posts, this refers to a problem with Trend Micro virus scanner. It may be that some infection you have acquired is sabotaging your virus scanner deliberately. This is not uncommon.

Have you tried the other online scanners in FAQ608-4650 ?

To take the matter further it will help to know if your machine is clear of malware. The two problems you have may be related to Trojan, Worm or Virus infection.

Does it Shutdown without errors from Safe Mode?

hi its me again well it dont show the error in safe mode ive ran a virus scan with it updated and i have adaware se and spybot search and destroy and i tryed the other too you mentiond. what the thing you talking about trend virus scaner i dont think i used that b 4. and when i try to install the cwshredder it showed a error message it asked if i wanted to send the error report to microsoft so i did and i have the cwshredder on a disc too and it says the same thing
thanx agin hope we can solve this..lol

My knowledge of Tmfilter service is based solely on what I have read here, have a look and see if it means anything to you?

The fact that things are better in Safe Mode is a good clue to proceed further on. I would still recommend a second opinion with some online virus scanners, but these MSKB articles will give you another line of approach.

HI IT ME AGAIN WELL I DONE EVERYTHING YOU SAID BUT ONE THIS IS I DOWNLOADED SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY AND ON EVERY SCAN I GET DSO EXPLOIT ITS SAYS 5 ENTRYS REGISTERY CHANGE AND EVERY TIME I SCAN I DELETE IT AND I RUN ANOTHER SCAN AND IT STILL IN THERE I EVEN TRYED IN SAFE MODE COULD YOU GIVE ME SOME ADVICE?

OH YEAH DO YOU THINK THIS COULD BE THE SVCHOST.EXE ERROR IM GETTTING?/

Have Spybot"Search & Destroy" look for problems the usual way and then (1) highlight one of the (DSO)"Data source object exploit" items, (2) Right click the highlighted item to bring up the menu list and select "More details", (3) Now click "Jump to location", (4) You are now viewing the Registry and can use the path shown in the Search & Destroy window to get to the key shown, (5) manually deleted each item.

Once you get spyware the best thing to do is just reformat honestly it saves you time and speed!

if you decide to restore turn off you restore point first

The repeating DSO Exploit is a bug in earlier versions of SpyBot S+D which was corrected by a downloadable file called spybotsd131tx.exe

This error is unlikely to be related to your original problem.

If you have nothing to do with Trend Micro, but have a listing for "Tmfilter service" in Services (bearing in mind what I suggested with those Google links on the matter) you could try disabling the service.

hi its me again..lol
i was woundering if you know aboy this error i found in my events veiwer the reson i looked in there is because my computer just shut off with out me doing any thing this is the error tho .The MCSTRM service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
ok and i have a nother question when i goto system restore i try to restore it and then when it restore and restarts it say sytem could not be restored to this date ive tryed all the dates in there too please help thanx

oh yeah and one more thing do you guy know anything about yahoo account lockers because someone locked my yahoo account and i cant accses it ive tryed making differnt names but still wont sighn me in seems like theres somthing blocking it it just alway says sighning ito yahoo and never does is there anything you can help with ...please do =)

It is hard to tie down what MCSTRM service is. I have seen vague mentions of Real Player, or RealTek but nothing concrete. I even wondered if the TRM part related to Trend Micro but you have already ruled that out. Perhaps someone else knows what it is.

You can look at the Registry location mentioned in this link and see if it helps you identify the service.

System Restore will not be able to restore your system to any point (or time) where your computer configuration is/was faulty. It can only restore to a fault free configuration.

However many people report that trying System Restore from Safe Mode has worked in cases like this.

What was it that "Screwge" suggested further up the thread?

Strange services, weird errors, flashing icons - If a through Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D and Up-to-date AV can't fix it with a through scan then you will probably be best to format the system and do a fresh install of WinXP.

Thanks,

Steve.
