weird TCP/IP problem

I have this weird problem with sql server 2000 enterprise.
The sql server and application are running on the same machine.However, when we have a TCP/IP problem(unable to
connecto to a different client machine on the network), SQL Server stalls.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

i guess i missed the detail. after the tcpip connection is recovered, sql server still stalls.
