Upon booting a customers machine everything works absolutely fine. However she has a dial up connection that when clicked on (or attemted to be reached through start bar/connect to) the machine hangs for about 3 minutes but after that period the machine connects and continues as if nothing has happened.

I read another post here that said Norton System Works can cause 'polling/dchp' problems... Could this be it?

She doesn't have a network, so I have disabled the network connection (on board LAN), yet still the problem persists.

Any help would be greatfully received,

Thx in advance,

Kutter.

Can you use the procedure mentioned here to eliminate or confirm Norton as the cause?

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to make sure the machine was clean of malware too.
