Bickyz,

I am here only to follow up on my last posting and along the line of the original proposal per BigJohnD.

My understanding that you said boot to safe mode might be wrong---sorry. I verify with my win2000advsvr box, safe mode does boot to command prompt. So first thing, if you meant boot to safe mode command prompt as administrator, then that was the correct configuration you have to enter into.

Verify the existence, then attrib of the marlett.ttf:

[1]
Code:
c:\winnt\fonts>dir /ah marlett.ttf
you should be able to see its existence.
[2]
Code:
c:\winnt\fonts>attrib -h marlett.ttf
I verified and can confirm it can eliminate the hidden attribute of marlett.ttf in this "safe mode-command prompt".

So the replacement procedure should work perfect.

Hi,

> safe mode does boot to command prompt

That's essential as in Windows mode the font will be active once Explorer loads. It is used in the Menu, and will be protected.

which is why I suggest Bickyz checks the font is actually present after reading the error messages.

I just open Control Panel, Fonts

Then bring up the Task Manager and close all open applications (not services), including explorer.

Remove and/or replace system fonts.
