Weird Corner Things In Word

I am having trouble with some weird corner things in Word. I have Office XP Professional with Frontpage and Windows XP. A while ago I was messing around with making columns in Word, like a newspaper, and I've accidently made some corner things that appear in Print Layout and Print Preview. In each corner of the page is one of the corner things. They are grey and are half of a circle with the open half pointed towards the edge of the paper. When I change the page margins the lines move accordingly and when I doubleclick on the lines Page Setup opens up. I have tried uninstalling Word, I have tried uninstalling Office, and I these things appear on other logins as well. Do you have any idea how to get rid of these things?

If it works the same as in Word97 and Word2K, those lines represent your text boundaries. By your description that appears what it is. Go to Tools, Options, View tab and uncheck your Text boundaries option and they should go away.

Thanks for the reply. I have already tried this and it didn't work. If I turn on the text boundaries, the corner things appear to make each line in the boundaries about half an inch longer. Any other ideas?

Greetings. I have tried to recreate this problem in 2000 without success. These sound like they may be registration marks. Are registration marks something that are available in XP? It may be worth a shot to investigate this.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure what registration marks are. I have gone through all the results when I search for it in Word help and I have searched the Internet. Could you explain a little more about what registration marks are? Thanks.

They are used by graphic designers and the printing industry as guidelines. They help line up documents. For example if a document is to be printed in four colors, each color would need to be lined up correctly with each other color on the page. These marks are used as guidelines for cutting as well. Usually they are a full circle with a cross through it rather than a half-circle, butI am just trying to guess what your document is doing. I could be way off. As you know, it is sometimes very hard to convey through writing alone.
