Hello all, we're experiencing a weird problem in our Meridian. We have a direct PC connected with Hyperterminal to port 1, por 0 is connected to a modem and port 2 is connected to another PC for CDR recordings. The setup has been there for years, but now I have the following problem: I can get the login prompt from meridian, indeed in all consoles I can see system messages what probes that I have connectivity with the meridian, I turned the whole system off and on and I can see all messages in the power up, but whenever I send an enter I receive nothing, thus I cannot login to the system.

Any one had experienced something like that? any help will be greatly appreciated, this problem is making us crazy as you may understand, we just can't log into the system!

Thanks again

Oscar

i assume you have rebooted the pc? is it just the maint term that will not transmit? could be a bad card but that would be very rare. if you've rebooted is there another app you can connect to, to verify that your "Dyperterm" doesn't have a corupt keyboard deff?

Thank John, I rebooted the PC, I was able to get the login prompt using a modem connected to port 0 but disconnecting both PCs from port 1 and port 2.
If I connect one of the 2 PCs, even the modem connection freezes and I cannot transmit.

that is strange, i would connect to the core and dis the paddle board. if your in an 11 build a tty on the 2nd cab. only reseating the ssc could clear that. (not during the day)

what type of switch?

j 21 of the active is a core tty, dce j 23 is the same, except dte. only the active core talks.. dis tty x for each tty on a paddle and you will see a red light on the card. facepalte disable it and pull it out clean. plug it back in the same way, after the light comes on, push it in one more click. the enl tty's.. that card can and will take down a switch, and keep it down if it's not plugged in FIRM. your playing with a device that has an interupt assigned, a spike from that card can interupt service

Thanks John, just one question, why if turned the whole switch off and on, this condition was not cleared?

i would guess that when the os reloaded you had a error on that single file, reseating that card should force that file to be loaded from the hd again.. in rls 21 or so, any power cycle caused the networks cards to fail without a reseat.. bad thing was if you were remote, they looked good and you could idu the sets past them. usually most of them were not really there
