Morning guys.

Does anyone know how you can create a security certificate for your own server without having to pay one of the authorised companies...?

I'm trying to test out security on a home server before rolling it out to the company and paying for it so just need to be able to activate security in some way.

I believe if you open up the internet services manager in the control panel >admin options, there is an option to secure the web server with ssl for test

It was not that easy to accomplish, for me anyway. I just did it on a test server and then repeated it on a production server. None of the "instructions" that i found at Microsoft or anywhere else matched what was on screen. In both cases it turned out to be a grind of pushing buttons until things magically worked. The most help i found was a MS KB article 290625. It didnt actually match what I saw on screen, but it was closer than anything else I found.

good luck
