I am looking to run a web server...for the time being it will only be for one website...that gets maybe 1000 hits a month....maybe 2000 at the most...The site has some databases and ASP and all...

I am wondering what sort of speed I would need for this site if I wanted to host it...would a PII 400 with MMX and 128 MB of RAM be enough or would I need more?

Any input is welcome...thanks!!

RAM tends to be pretty important in a web server; you could be OK with the processor, but I would add RAM if your visitors will be hitting databases & using ASPs

Also, what platform are you using, and what web server software? First thing to do is check requirements for both - make sure you have more than enough resources to run both, and then some..

I will be running Windows 2000 Server...

It says a 133 Mhz Pentium or higher is ok....so I think the 400-500 Mhz PII or PII should suffice...

as for RAM...it calls for 256 MB...I am thinking I will have at least 512 MB of P133...but I will try to get almost a full gig of RAM because I will be running ASP and databases...

Thanks for the help RachelD
