Can someone please clarify the following for me, as I am now more confused than ever before.
We are going from Crystal Reports V8 to V9. With V8, we used the Web Component Server that was shipped with the application, and used it for Intranet web distribution to our internal customers (approximately 20 to 50) using the ActiveX viewer.
As I understand it Crystal Reports V9 (standard, professional and developer) is also shipped with a Web Component Server - called RAS. RAS lookes the same as Crystal Enterprise V9, except there are no security or scheduling, and is not as scallable (single tier). But my external customers will still be able to access the report over the web using an upgraded version of ActiveX?
Does this upgraded version of ActiveX facilitate Single, Multiple as well as Range parameters, as is the case in Crystal Reports?
Is RAS less flaky than the Web Component Server that was shipped with V8? Bearing in mind that our web enabeled server on which the Web Component Server is located is very good, so I dont think that causes the flaky-ness?
Is it true that Crystal Reports V9 Advanced edition ships with a waterred Down version of Crystal Enterprise? What is the major differences between this watered down version and Crystal Enterprise V9 itself?
And lastly - assuming a possible web user voilume of around 50 (bearing in mind that not all 50 will be online at any one time), what is the best route to follow - Crystal Enterprise, or will RAS be able to cope
I know it is very cheeky of me to ask such questions which should probably be directed to a Crystal Decisions consultant, but I find that all they are interested in selling is Crystal Enterprise, so is not really helpfull on the features, etc of the alternatives.
Hope you guys with all the knowledge out there will be able to provide advise.
