Hello,

I'm looking for a way to put some useful non-essential templates on our intranet for people to access. When I link to them now, the documents open, but open within the IE browser. Any ideas on how to have them open in the external application? Is there a MIME tag I can throw?

Thanks,
Andy

Open My Computer.
On the Tools menu (or the View menu), click Folder Options (or click Options).
Click the File Types tab.
In the Registered file types list, click the specific Office document type (for example, Microsoft Excel Worksheet), and then click Advanced (or click Edit).
In the Edit File Type dialog box, click to clear the Browse in same window check box (or click to clear the Open Web documents in place check box).
Click OK.

Hi, lynn.

That's great, but it must be done on ALL user's PCs...that's why I didn't suggest it.

If they're Word or Excel templates and such, then I suggest putting them in ZIP files so they're forced to download.
