watching windows users

I've been tasked to try and figure out why we lost a ton of files from a samba mount. I'm wondering if the log files can show who/what did a command. Current debug level is 3, what should the setting be to "see" what users are doing?

samba version is 3.0.4 we are authenticating users through a winblows domain.
