I am looking to install a used Watchguard SOHO6 Wireless in my network at the urging of my WISP to replace Linksys routers which he has a very negative opinion of.

I have duplicated all settings of the Linksys including the Spoofed MAC address to substitute new router for old. The Linksys uses a cross-0ver cat5 connection to the POE of the WISP radio.

I have tried X-oVer and Straight thru cable from POE to the the WAN port of the Watchguard, but neither results in the MODE light to stop blinking AND neither makes a connection to pull the IP from the radio's DHCP server.

According to the exteremely poorly written manual:
"If the MODE light is [sic] blinks:
There SOHO 6 Wireless can not connect to the external network. Possible causes of this problem include:
* The SOHO 6 Wireless did not receive an IP address for the external interface from the DHCP server.
* The WAN port is not connected to another appliance.
* The connection to the external interface is defective.
* The appliance to which the external interface of the SOHO 6 Wireless is connected is not operating properly.

The manual does NOT discuss, anywhere, what type of Cat5 connection is needed to the WAN port. Nor does it say anything, anywhere whether the WAN port in autosensing.

I would appreciate any thought and suggestions to get this running.

NOPE, I don't think that's a good one.

The Watchguard is supposed to direct connect to the WISP radio.

The WISP radio does MAC filtering to ensure the user isn't swapping a bunch of routers behind his network, but I set the MAC spoofing to emulate the Linksys router MAC so I don't think that's the problem.

HUB is nothing to do with the MAC.....its just syncing the link speed of WG caz in some cases the external link may not come up caz of this.

Rest its ur box....play

Could you please say more about LINK SPEED of the WAN connection? I have not understood this when mentioned in the poorly written manual.

The WAN port utilizes a CAT5 Ethernet connector. I'd assumed it autosenses either 10 or 100 Mbit for the connection. Does it NOT do this?

Is this what Link speed refers to?

Have have you seen LINK SPEED set to in your implementations?

Thanks, Jim

Yes link speed i meant, is what you know. In case of watchguard i have seen lots of these kind of cases.

The ports are autosensing(10/100 half/full) but in some case the link speed negotiation fails. So in these case we use a cheep hub to get the link speep working.
In the coming Soho edge boxes you can modify the link speed of external interface to your choice to meet with your router/modem but the these old Soho 6 you may not just check and see of you get a drop down menu of link speed in external interface settings in which you will have diff options of link speed.
