Hi all,

I have an S8300 configured as an LSP off of an S8700. It all appears to be working fine except the S8300 keeps getting a Watch Dog error every minue and a half or so (weather I am connected to the S8300 or the S8700).

The error is as follows:

Source: WD Event ID: 18
Application Communication Manager Restarted

Sometimes this causes an alarm on the S8300 and sometimes it does not, but it NEVER effects service.

Does anyone know if this is normal, or have I found an "undocumented feature" in the S8300?

From:

“Application <name> restarted. Retry <retry count>, New Pid: <pid>”
An application has failed, and Watchdog successfully restarted it.
1. To verify the alarm, look for the application’s name or process
either using the:
- Web interface, by selecting Diagnostics > View System
Watchdog Logs
- Linux command line, by entering logv -w or, directly, by
examining /var/log/ecs/wdlog.
2. No resolution. Manually clear the alarm, either from the:
- Web interface, by selecting Alarms and Notification, the
appropriate alarm, and Clear
- Linux command line, by entering almclear -n #id

Looks like somethinig that Avaya need sto handle.

This alarm means that the Communication Manager application performed a reset. This is normal when the LSP receives the translation file from the main controler but it is not normal when it happens every 1,5 minutes (unless you perform a "save translations lsp" every 1,5 minutes).

Check the history log ("list history") to see for save commands and if the reset and the "save" do not match then call Avaya..

Petran.
