You could always open each maill item and then Save As to where you like. As far as I am aware your emails have the file extention .eml so in search files and folders type *.eml and run the search. Then back up what it finds. Also search for *.pst and back them up.
If this is not Outlook Express, and if you are using Personal Folders, then you just need the .pst file.
Search your drive for this file. If windows 2k or XP it will be under "Documents and Settings".
If you want to tranfser e-mails etc from Outlook you might want to try this.
Open Outlook and click:
File - Import/Export - Export to a file - Personal Folder File(.pst)
Choose the folder/s that you want to save and check the 'include subfolders' box. Browse to where you want to save them to, (this could be a usb memory stick if you want to transfer them to a new pc). Click finish and you will now have a copy of the relevant folders.
On the new pc open Outlook and go through the same steps only this time you'll be 'Importing from a file or program'.
Make sure if you are copying your 'contacts' folder accross to the new machine that you can actually access them on the new machine before you do anything else.
You can copy the 'contacts' (and any other folder) in the same way listed above.
