w98 network problem

I am responsible for a 20 seat school computer room with win98 workstations and a win2003 server. For no apparent reason 1 or 2 of the workstations fail to logon to the network at startup and I find that releasing and renewing ip addresses solves the problem but is time consuming and inconvenient. I would appreciate any answer that might throw light on the problem. Incidentally it is not always the same pcs that fail to logon. My knowledge, although growing is still in its infancy, so if you could make replies as understandable as possible

It sounds like the problem is with your DHCP server (which I assume is running on your 2003 server). It may have run out of addresses to hand out. I have not used Windows 2003 for DHCP so I can't give specifics. Hopefully, I will point you in the right direction:
Check the scope of the DHCP to be sure there are enough addresses to hand out.

Another option might be to use static IP addresses at the workstations rather than DHCP. While the setup will take a little time, at least it won't ever loose the configuration.
