Funning thing happened upon a purchase of my Gateway E-macine T2742 tower. Upon reformatting it with W2KP SP4 I am unable to start up or power up the computer without removing both the CMOS and power cord.
I've tried putting it in standby or hibernate to no avail.
Although it comes preloaded with XP Home SP2 I have loaded all the drivers except the BIOS. I have an inkling it's the BIOS update that I tried loading, but got some error stating my T2742 tower was not compatible.
It runs fine when running, but would like to put it in at least standby or hibernate without havin to take out the CMOS battery and power cord everytime.
ANY IDEAS? Should I reformat it with XP Home? If so, I don't have the original version that came with the computer as I purchased it used.
