I have seven XP Pro machines in a workgroup. All works fine there. However, when I bring my laptop into the office (It is running W2K Pro) and add to the workgroup, I am seen by all the other machines, but I can't see them.

Any suggestions on where to look. I know W2K seems to have dreams of power assertion, but this is ridiculous!

Turn off the Computer Browser service on your machine. You are losing the browsing wars to the XP clients.

No luck...even tried reconfiguring workgroup, rebooting, etc.. shutting down browser is not the trick...

Disable/turn off any firewall.
If Zone Alarm or Sygate you may need to stop the firewall from even starting using Msconfig.

And if you are using PC-Illan anti-virus, it installs a firewall by default that will exhibit the symptoms you have.

You need to go to the options for the program and turn off the firewall.
