Can anyone tell me the easiest way to apply group policies to my 98 clients using win2k server.

I have tried to use the win2k group policies but they dont really work. Specifically when trying to change desktop settings or IE settings on the 98 clients.

I have tinkered with the IEAK to change IE settings and this seems to work but what is the easiest and most efficient way to do automated settings changes to IE and user desktops using win98.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Kenny

the group policy you are making on the win2k server are for Windows 2000/XP clients only. To apply group policy to win98 clients you need to run gpedit.exe from the resource kit found on the win98 cd.
create a group policy for you win98 computers then save it as config.pol to the Netlogon shared folder on your win2k server.

FYI

Appling Polices to Win9X machines does not do much in reality since those policies can be bypassed by any user on Win9X.

In W2K or XP these policies can not be bypassed unless your an admin

Yes i know u can bypass group policy for win9x clients, cause i have created a few hacks for it over the years. But that wasnt his question. Also for your FYI it is possible for a user to bypass Group Policy settings for 2K/XP Clients. If you dont believe me i can email you source code on a program i made to do it.

Yes i know you can bypass policies if your admin be it a local to that computer or Domain Admin or you deligated to much control to group policy.
