I am installing some software on a new W2K/SQL2K server. SP2 for each app is what the software vendor requires.
Part of the install is to create a "service", but during the installation I get an error 1057 - service cannot be created. My only choice is "OK". The next thing is an error 1920 saying the service cannot be started (duh!).
I am logging in as the administrator; tried both local and on the domain. The vendor says it's a permissions error and admin doesn't appear to have the rights to create a service. They cannot tell me how to fix this. W2K is out of the box... we've made no special tweaks.
Vendor is saying that the domain rights are overriding the local rights, so I unplugged it from the network. Same error, same place.
If the vendor can't help me... who can? Thanks. Tinerz
