W2K Server & Alactel speedtouch 500 4 port router

Hello, I was wondering if any one could help me. I have setup a w2k server and have set up active directory and dns and dhcp. I have a 4 port adsl/ethernet router which i am using as my hub if you like and my adsl modem. The problem when I have my server set to a static ip address and my dns server of 127.0.0.1 I am unable to connect to the internet , but when I switch to obtain a ip automatically I can connect to the internet. My router has the facility to dish out ip address and dns info but I have switched it off as I want to use w2k

Can anyone help me on this matter

How many network cards do you have? I had a site which hadn't bought static IP's with there adsl router and used dhcp to give the client an IP addy. If you have 2 network cards in your server then you can have one to the internet and then use the other for your internal network.
