Hello,

Yes I know that the best option would be to use Outlook rather than Exchange Client for NT, (but the client insists on using the Client)

When opening a mail message you get a message that the frmscache.dat file is corrupt and trying to use defaults.

The PC has a clean build, office 97 SP2 (Outlook has never been installed)

I have looked at Technet (no joy) and copying the frmcache.dat file from a known working PC doesn't work.

Any Ideas??

Thanks in advance

Have you tried renaming the frmcache.dat file to frmcache.old then restart the client? Make sure the client is closed when renaming.

Yep `fraid so, really banging my head against the wall

Some of our other so called Tecchies have sorted it in the past, didn't document it and are bout as much use as a chocolate fire guard >:-<

Teamwork can't fault it!

Sorry, thats about as far as I can get into it.

The answer to this one lies in the NTFS permissions

Technet article KB169387 "Security Requirements Office 97" states that the frmcache.dat file requires read and write permissions.

Default installation inherited users read from parent.

Ah yes, that makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for the feedback.
