I am currenting running TSM 5.3.0.15 on all my windows servers. I am having a TERRIBLE time with 5 ( out of 17 ) of them continually missing their scheduled backups, respectively. I have contacted IBM Support and they are stumped as to WHY they keep on missing. Some of them, I can initiate a manual backup, and it will work; the others, I cannot get them to do anything.

Is there someone out there that is FLUENT is TSM for Windows that may be able to pint me into the right direction.....this is getting ridiculous !

Thank You !

What does the q node <servername> on the server say? What does the dsmsched.log and dsmerror.log on the client say.

Post it so we can take a look.

I have had plenty of issues with TSM/Unix and Win2K clients over the course of a year. I would recommend that you check the following;
1. First off ensure that the DSM.OPT file for these nodes have valid information in thems (ie node name, TCPServer address).
2. Have the node passwords ever expired on the TSM server. I found that even after resetting the node passwords to what they were, clients still have a problem connecting.
3. Are you backing up over the network or fiber to SAN (in this case check to see if the DSMSTA.OPT file is configured correctly.
4. Check for error messages generated in the error logs as per ProbablyDown
5. Check connectivity between the nodes and the TSM server

Hope this helps.

Regards

Terry
