Hello everyone,

Just a quick question... I can't find the answer anywhere I look.

Avaya used to ship IP Office 400 series systems (and I think 500 series too) on VXworks. Obviously the server-based deployments of IP Office were on Linux. From an IP Office controller perspective (IPO 500v2), is that still shipping on VXworks or has Avaya moved to Linux for that? I can't see where that is documented anywhere? I'm not positive "controller-based" systems are on Linux - I tend to think Avaya is using VXworks for them.

Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks!

VXWorks, used by all main PBX manufactors for embedded (e.g> not sever based) PBX systems using a RISC processor.

Hi Intrigrant,

Yes, that part is known (about who is using VXworks). What I'm just trying to figure out is if Avaya is still using VXworks for the IP Office 500v2 platform. I'm positive it is, however I'm just looking to confirm that with the most current version of IP Office software. It used to be documented in Avaya's documentation, but I can't find it anywhere now (seriously, not one piece of Avata's technical or sales documentation contained anything about VXworks).

I need to compile an IT systems report on each server/device/piece of equipment's O/S and how, if possible, viruses/hacking could affect the platform. Obviously if the IPO is still using VXworks that reduces it's valenerability to be attacked by viruses (not eliminated, but reduced). Just need to confirm this somehow before I send my final report up.

Thanks!

Asl Avaya , they are the only to provide the info required.
