i have sucessfully, or so it seems, reinstalled my redhat 9.0 and set it up as a ftp using vsftpd.

i can make folders usernames on the linux (thanks to all who helped me in the past)

but here is my new problem.

i can apparently access and write to the folders from a remote machine (in this case tested on a windows XP and 98SE) however once the file transfers i cannot see it on the windows machine. i know the files are transfered sucessfully because if i go to my redhat box and go to the folder the files are there.

i even tried putting files in from the redhat 9.0 machine to the folder. but once i go to the windows box i cannot see anything in the folders. i know im in the folder, because i can see subfolders just not files.

what do i need to do to correct this?

thanks

david

as a ps if i use a program liek WS_FTP pro to access the ftp server i get the same result with one addition. after i copy a file over i get the following message

226 Transfer done (but failed to open directory).

hope this helps

Sounds like the refresh command for the directory listing is not enabled for some reason. Have you checked the perms on the folders?

Surfinbox.com Business Internet Services - National Dialup, DSL, T-1 and more.

i checked the permissions on the folder in question (i even created a new one to test and got the same result)
