VScan 8 and Outlook 98

I am running W2k3 SP2 (firewall off), office 97 ansd outlook 98. With Vscan 8 loaded I am unanle to send or receive emails. It would appear that the mail spooler is locked. anyone got any ideas........please

VS 8 has half a firewall built in, are you sure you don't have the port blocked or something like that.

I have not added any ports to the list. Outlook hangs when you try to download or send email.

another good one is when you uninstall Vscan 8 it uninstalls java so lots of other things stop working!!!!!!

I've lodged a call with McAfee and await a reply/fix

I think by default, there are some port blocking options turned on after installation. (Unless you didn't install that component) I believe it has settings to restrict what e-mail clients are allowed to send and receive e-mail and you just need to put in the allowed executable names into the field. Might want to verify that the Outlook 98 executable is there, assuming the name isn't outlook.exe.

I applied the 2 hotfixes for Vscan 8 (1 & 4) and this solved the problem
