Are there any changes with vrepair & nw 6.5? When I dismount a volume and run vrepair it states that there are no volumes defined.

You cannot run vrepair on NSS volumes. Only traditional volumes.
The way to check and/or repair NSS volumes (by pool,actually), is to do the following:
NSS /POOLVERIFY (menu comes up, select the pool).
NSS /POOLREBUILD (same)
Do a verify first. If there are any errors, then I would rebuild it.
Remember that you're not repairing volumes, you're reparing pools.. A pool can contain numerous volumes.
