This is my setup.

1. Windows 2000 server SP4 acting as PDC with DNS and DHCP installed.

2. We have a WebRamp M3 router with a dial-up internet connection plugged into the switch and set as the default gateway giving all network computers access to the internet. (all win2k Pro)

We now need to get an ISDN connection and set-up a VPN to allow 1 user to do their job from home. This is what I will be doing in order to complete this task, please comment (even if i have the whole thing wrong!).

1. After the ISDN is installed, make sure internet still works through the router and to the whole office etc.

2. Install a new copy of windows 2000 server on a spare computer with only 1 interface card and plug it to the switch giving it a static IP address. and join it to the existing domain.

3. Set-up VPN server through RRAS.

4. use incase the ISDN line IP isn't static.

5. allow user in AD users and computers to have dial-in access.

these are the general steps, and im sure i can figure out my way throught the small details, but as long as the general steps are correct, I should be ok!

PS. Cable, or DSL is not an option as it isnt available in my area.
Please comment.

You could actually just install the ISDN into the same server.

Then configure RRAS to route the traffic between the two networks.

If it were my network though, I'd have the server as the default gateway, routing only internet requests to the modem. That would allow for a more refined level of control over your routing schema. This would also integrate with the incoming ISDN connection far easier if both were routed from the same server.

There is no wrong way, so long as it works. ;)
