Hi

I am trying to set up a VPN on an Ipaq running windows mobile 2003. The software says it can run PPTP or IPsec/L2TP. However hard I try, I can't get it to connect. There are ZERO entries for VPN on the pocket PC Knowledgebase on microsoft. Can anybody help? I'm using a fortigate-60 firewall which has loads of options for VPN's, I've followed all the instructions but it just won't work.
thanks
Andy Cole.

I hope someone answers your question because I have the same problem. My office is installing a wireless LAN on top of our wired LAN. The wireless LAN is a dead network with just a VPN server attached to it. So, to get anywhere, you have to connect to the VPN to access the network and the internet. With my laptop and XP I can connect to the VPN just fine with just my domain user and password. With my IPAQ running Pocket PC 2003 I can configure the VPN connection but I can NOT figure out how to get it to connect to the server. I know my wireless card is working as I can ping the VPN server from my IPAQ. If anyone can let us in on this BIG secret, we would be most greatful!

Well, I've solved our problem now, it was the firmware on the firewall needed updating. We've used the PPTP functionality, I think there is NO chance of getting IPsec on the PPC to work, there are just not enough configuration settings on the setup.

Andy.

p.s. If you want to use IPsec, you could try MovianVPN (google it) but that only supports a small range of firewalls.
