so far I have been able to set up RAS to allow incoming vpn session and authenticate and that good stuff. The only computer I can access by name is the server. all the others I have to know the IP address for which I don't want to do because of DHCP.

How can I get my vpn clients to see the rest of the network?

thanks,
Martin

What VPN client are you using? Usually you can add the domain DNS or WINS server to the vpn client properties so it knows where to get the information.

regular windows dial up networking

Okay I did some more testing.. If I use the fully qualified domain name I can at least get a ping. but I still can't browse the network....

Do you have client for MS networks and file and printer sharing for MS networks bound to the connection on the client side -- connection properties - network tab ???

yes... I do.

I don't know if this is the same problem, but I have just set up a Windows 2003 Server for Terminal Services on an NT 4 domain, and from the network, I can ping the TS using its IP address without problems.

However, from a remote office which is linked via two VPN routers, I can ping every PC on the network EXCEPT the terminal server.

I too am puzzled. Any ideas? Thanks.

Edit Hosts.txt (serach for it on local drive )

Put in the mappings of the Ip addresses against the Computer names.

the hosts.txt file has more instructions within it.

Good luck!
