Hello,

We are running windows 2000 server. When I go through the VPN. I don't see any shared drive. What am I missing?

Note: When I am in office (logged in to the domain) everything looks good.

thanks

Are you using a scipt during normal logon process? You need to log on to the VPN prior to logging into windows. If you do not do it this way you will need a bat file.

something like this

net use \\computername\share

Yeah, through VPN's you need to log into the VPN before you log into your machine. In Win2k pro and above that is the only way the netlogon share on you server will execute. On Windows 98/ME you can log into the VPN after you log into your machine, as your machine will request the logon script from your servers netlogon share. Win2k pro and above doesn't do, that, it will use cached credentials.

Hope that made sense.

Thanks for your input. However I am not sure I understand when you say...

'you need to log into the VPN before you log into your machine'

I am using my laptop (win XP). I login to my laptop and then connect thorugh VPN in network connection. The connection goes through fine. But I can not see anything in my office network.

Thanks.

When you are logged into the machine normally, create the dial-up connection as a VPN connection then log off.. In windows 2000 and xp there is a check box that says dial up networking. Log into your machine as per normal, then click the check box that says dial up networking and then your vpn connection box pops up and log in.

Also try using \\i.p. address of computer you want to see instead of \\name of computer.
