VPN and browsing.

When ever I establish a vpn connection to a remote network my local email program and mapped drives stop working. This is obviously because I am now part of the remote network and are part of a different network segment. How can I make it so that my email program is still functional and I can get to my local mapped drives even when connecting to another network via VPN?

This is normally down to IP addressing between your local network & the VPN network. Do they have different network addresses, or are they the same?

They have different IP addressing schemes. Is this what an add route command is used for? I'm not sure how to use this command.

depends on your VPN software... the Cisco client we use at work allows an option to enable or disable the Local LAN...
