my PC connects to the internet through a VPN set up by my ISP. my mom's PC is connected to mine through LAN.

The problem is when i try to set up ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), my mom's PC is unable to connect.

The thing i find perplexing is that a month ago when my mom's PC was still using a Windows 95 OS, while mine had a Windows XP OS, ICS was working fine.

However, it is only now that when we're both using Windows XP, that this ICS problem cropped up. :o

So i figure it's a WindowsXP-VPN issue... Does anyone know? Is there a particular set-up process/procedure i should follow in order for ICS to work properly? Anyone has any idea at all? Would appreciate any advice/tip.

i'm not sure about what you mean by ipconfig... anyway it says here in their service report they left us:

ip add: 192.168.?.?
subnet: 255.255.254.?
gateway: 192.168.?.?
DNS: 202.86.192.?

then the username/password.

i saw these entries in the IP/TCP properties of my PC's network adapter connecting to their modem. in my Network Connections, all the relevant info i can see is that the DNS IP is placed in the part where it says "Host or IP Address of Destination."

btw, since i am using VPN, my Network Connections shows that i have 3: (1) the LAN card connecting to the modem; (2) the LAN card connecting to the other computer; (3) the VPN connection. And so, i've tried sharing either the VPN & the LAN-modem connection, thinking that i may have just been sharing the wrong net connection. But i just get the same result. no net connection for my mother's PC.

the weird thing is when i try to ping an IP address using my mom's PC (say, the DNS server, for instance), it gets a reply! i'm not that adept w/ computers (i'm a law student. ;)) but i do know that that means her PC is already somehow connected to the net, right? otherwise it won't get any reply & just say Ping Timed Out, right? ;o

whew, anyway, i hope any of you can enlighten me on this...

sorry. when i said this...

"in my Network Connections, all the relevant info i can see is that the DNS IP is placed in the part where it says "Host or IP Address of Destination."

it should say...

in my Network Connections, all the relevant info i can see IN THE PROPERTIES OF MY VPN CONNECTION is that the DNS IP is placed in the part where it says "Host or IP Address of Destination."
