VooDoo 3DFX video problems

98 PC shows 98 banner on bootup, then screen goes black for approx 3 min. then reappears completing bootup...then seems to function properly....what's causing 3 min. black-out?
 
Be more specific, what hardware/OS are you using?

Your problem likely has nothing to do with the Voodoo 3 video card.

If your machine is equipped with an ethernet card, then on boot up, it will sit and poll the card repeatedly looking for a DHCP server for network settings. If no DHCP server is found the machine won't finish booting until it times out. To resolve this, you can specify a non-routable IP address in the TCP/IP settings for the machine.


Something like 192.168.0.1 will work just dandy.
