Hi,

Netware 5.1, sp4 - I just went in to modify a user's rights in the 'xxx' volume and it isn't listed. We have 5 volumes including SYS. All except 'xxx' are listed. In the Netware admin view of objects I notice it isn't listed there either. We recently patched to sp4 and everything is working fine. The volume and it's mapped drive appear normally in Windows explorer. Read/write/app's are all working normally...????

What happened and how can I get Netware admin to recognize it again?

Thank you anyone who can shed light on it.

If the volume is definately mounted on the server, it would appear that something or someone has removed the volume object from the NDS.

Shouldn't be a problem to fix, you can either do the following:

Recreate the volume object using NWAdmin - should be simple, just name it SERVER_VOLUME (where SERVER is server name and VOLUME is the volume name) and point it back to the required volume

"It's true, its damn true!"

Run a DSREPAIR on the Server Local Database. Its in the Advanced Options!

I bet it will reappear after that!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the assist! The prodigal volume has returned home.

I appreciate the help...

Did the object re-appear after DSREPAIR, recreation, or just all by itself???

Good Luck!

Actually, I tried to create a new volume object in Netware admin but I was informed that an object of that name already existed. I bailed out and next thing I knew, there was the missing volume. ???
