I have a option 11 with release 25.08. Will this switch support VOIP?

There are two options for VoIP with this switch (that I am aware of): ITG line side or ITG trunk side.

If you only have one system, the line side will allow you to have i2004 (IP Phones) programmed on the switch. There is also a PC-based i2050 soft phone. I have not really worked with these before, so someone else may be able to add more info on those phones.

If you have any need to do trunk side VoIP, the ITG Trunk card can do that. It will need another node (ITG card) to talk to. I have worked with these off and on for the last 4+ years. Some deployments work fine, ones like mine do not.

I hope this helps some. Others I am sure have a lot more experience on the Line side of things.

Post a follow up if you need more specific info.

Hi

You will need release 3.0 or rls 4.0 for voip support

yes you are on the edge for viop, but check your tns' ava in ld 11, you'll see that unless you paid for the keycodes you'll have to upgrade anyway

I think that nortel supplies 4 (IP-Line) licenses from rls 25.40 so that the customer can get their vendor to setup and test/show IP telephony at the site. Have done this with success at a couple of our customers. So if you check your keycodes I think you should have 4 licenses if you haven't ordered IP-line licenses befoure, and use them as you want if you have a MC card.
