Have not tried this before however think it should work, hopefully you should be able to advise and let me know of any pitfalls.

2 Sites site A and Site B, I am having a 256k leased line installed between the sites connected directly to the IP office units (403 10 VCM and 406 10 VCM), no other traffic will go down this link appart from IP office traffic.

I want calls that are delivered to the main hunt group in site A to be answered in site B and if neccessary transfered back to an extention in site A. i.e. have 1 switchboard operator for both sites. Will this work, when the call is recived at site B from site A and then transferred back does this tie up 2 VCM channels or are the channels dropped once the call is back at site A.

when the call returns to site A the Voip link should be dropped.

Just make sure all your codecs line up. You didn't indicate if any of the users have IP hardphones - if they do, ensure they are set to the same codec you are using for the h.323 trunks (presumably g.729 on a 256k link)

No ip hardphones, just ipoffice to ipoffice so I presume as long as the codecs are ok no problem. Would I be able to get away with a 128K leased line with 10 voip channels?

Not if you want 10 simultaneous voice calls down that pipe

Avaya's own documentation contradicts itself like crazy as to bandwidth required for voice calls. I have seen everywhere from 16k to 60k show up as the total LAN requirement at g.729. Unless you're using the v.35 WAN port to make the connection? Much more effecient if you can afford the hardware to take that connection. I understand it's still popular in europe (then again so are all manner of unspeakably weird things *grin*) but it's dying out here in north america.

Best way to do this is to have I/C call route at remote site come into a short code which forwards to a group at the main site, can then have calls answered by either local users at main site or virtual users which forward back to remote site usres/groups.
