I am looking for ways to impliment VOIP at home on my local network, without using an external VOIP service provider.

Does anyone know where I can get software for the PC's to turn them into IP Phones, and is there a piece of server software that allows them to communicate with each other.

Additionally, is it possible for a normal individual to get the hardware needed to take an analog phone line and connect it to the local VOIP system?

Any information will help, searching the web for VOIP, IP Phone, and other similar things all lead me to someone that SELLS the services.

Thanks!

Hi,
I am using VoIP at my home for free.
The things you need are microphone with headphones and Netmeeting program.
To activate netmeeting in Windows OS. start->run
then write "conf". Netmeeting will be started.
Write IP of the computer you want to communicate and press call button.
Thats it.

If you have an ethernet connection you can have the chance to make Multimedia over IP freely.

Hope it works...

are you trying to do VOIP off a PBX? I do that at home and work. No one really knows where I am........
