Hi all,
I realise this has already been asked on other threads but I can't seem to find a definitive answer particularly for my situation.

We have a Voice VLAN set up with a Avaya IP500 v2 system and Voicemail Pro on UC module installed. We also have a 'management workstation' upon which Avaya IP Office Manager 9.1 is installed. I have administrative access to the system since my employer decided against renewing the maintenance contract and I'm trying to get the system to send emails alerting certain users (extensions) of a waiting voicemail message.

I've tried entering the following details ine 'SMTP' tab under 'System' section of IP Office Manager
[ul]
[li]Server address: smtp.gmail.com[/li]
[li]Port: 25 (also tried 465)[/li]
[li]Email from Address: entered valid email address in this field[/li]
[li]Use STARTTLS: ticked[/li]
[li]Server Required Authentication: ticked, and valid details entered for username/password fields.[/li]
[li]Use Challenge Response Authentication (CRAM-MD5): unticked[/li]
[/ul]

Then under the 'User' section I've gone to my own extension and in the 'User' tab entered my email address and in the 'Voicemail' tab I've entered the same address in the Voicemail Email. 'Voicemail On' is ticked and set to 'Copy' mode.
When I've saved the config and rebooted the IP500 (required for settings to take effect) then tested by leaving myself a voicemail, notifications by email are not being sent/received. Voicemails are working and I am notified on the phone itself and can listen/save/delete messages but just don't get any emails from the system.

I've setup SMTP for other devices on the network such as printers and these come through fine with the same settings so don't know where it's going wrong.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

EDIT: I should add that I can ping smtp.gmail.com from the management station where Avaya IP Office Manager is installed.

First try to ping from IP Office. (you can do this is system status).

Hi Okkie26, I've tried pinging 66.102.1.108 (a gmail smtp server ip address) from all the IP routes listed and all 3 pings for each row failed. Hmmm

Then the IP route is not setup the correct way.

Try to ping the gateway first then. After that try ping to google dns (8.8.8.8)

Make sure this works first.

Ok tried again using 'LAN2(WAN)' as Source Interface' rather than 'LAN1' and results were:

Target : 66.202.1.108
Source (used by IP Office: 192.168.1.249
Packets: sent 3, lost 0

Oh hold on, I missed something.

You're trying to send email from the VM Pro server. You need to enter the SMTP details in the VM pro server self.

Open VM Pro client, hit F9 en enter the details in the SMTP tab.

Where can I find the VM Pro client, is is part of Office IP Manager?

Ok, never seen that interface before! Got the VM Pro client downloaded and installed. It tried to search for a voicemail module on the network and fails but I was able to add manually.
It then prompts to download a callflow
callflow_crmebd.jpg

What should I do? I've never set up a callflow and don't want to screw anything up!

Click download. Then hit F9.

But it seems you need some basic training first.

Still no joy, I've followed the instructions in the help pages and entered the correct details in the Email tab but nothing happening. Can't even find the logs!

Not an option I'm afraid. Is it a requirement to have DNS set in IP Office Manager > System tab for voicemail to work?

DNS is set via de web manager of the UC module.

But this is basic knowledge, therefor, find yourself a buseniss partner of proper training.

Please call a business partner.
Give them remote access and it will be solved within an hour.
We all here work for business partners and help each other out for issues we have or to help the younger techs or techs that switched products not to help a customer that doesn't want to pay a BP and basically tries to take our job with our help and gets us into the obliviousness of having been a tech once.

CALL A BP, PLEASE
