I have an option 61C with callxpress voicemail. I have added a Aastra digital cordless phone to the mix with this extension. His ext. appears on several ext.. But I can not get his voicemail light to appear on his phone. I have checked the light does work. mwd in cls on 2nd phone. Do I need to only have 1234 on key 0 in one place only? There is also a 500 set that matches 1234 (polycom), in cls mwd is also. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure marp is assigned to the extension you want the mwi and change cls to mwa.

I am not sure you can light a lamp on a non-Nortel set that is congigured as a set on the PBX. You said this is a digital cordless set, how is it programmed in the PBX? If it is a 500 set like the Polycom, the PBX only provides stutter dial tone as an indication. You would need to fine something that can sense the stutter tone and light the lamp if the phone does not do it already.

Hope this helps,

Scott M.

If analog set

CLS MWA LPA

MWA = Message Waiting allowed - by it self will give stutter dial tone

LPA = Lamp allowed - no more stutter dial tone

Assuming you are connected to a analog mw/lc

resusser nailed that one, the dn can appear mixed, analog and digital.. your trying to light the analog lamp on a non nortel set lpa is lamp allow, mwa is messaging allow. do a echg, dn xxxx then answer yes to the marp prompt.. if the card is an 09 and marp is turned on in your switch.. go home early

Thank you for the information. I could always use helpful hints. But I am trying to light the lamp on the digital 2616 unit. But the same dnxxxx is on the cordless digital unit at key 0 and on a analog (polycom), in both of those I have mwd. I do have the marp along with mwa on the 2616 in which that is where I want the vm light to light. I am not sure if I have make the 2nd digital cordless that is programmed just like a 2616 that rollover is on key 0? Or any other solutions would be greatly appreciated.

you can try to add a key to the m2616
key x mwk yyyy x = key number yyyy = voicemail number

Plug a real M2616 into the port and see if the voice mail light lights.

If yes, make sure the aastra key mapping is setup correctly - you have to tell the aastra phone which key to monitor for MWI light activity.

If no, trouble shoot the PBX and Voice Mail systems.

two ways to light a digital lamp from mail, either with cls mwa and key x mwk 3301 or key x xmwk 1234 3301.... the xmwk key lights a lamp on the tn, assuming that station has dn 1234 on a line and it is not marped... the 3301 is the voice service answer dn... (the number you dial to check mail) to light a lamp on an analog port, cls mwa lpa...

we use xmwk keys for the pa to know when the boss has a msg.. she has his dn (usually as a mcn or scn) and the next key is his msg lamp... not that common but at times it's the right solution... if a set is mixed, the only reason you may have problems is marp the number on the right tn and make sure marp is turned on...

if you want to light the lamp on the digital, forget all the extra config, cls mwa key x mwk xxxx... your making it harder then you need to

Did you put the DN in the Vmail system where you want the MWI to light?

Thank you for the information. Yes I have put the mwi on the correct dn. All other dn's in cls have mwd. If you have same dn on several tn's do you have to only have 1 key 0 1234 marp.
