I have been having issues with an embedded voice mail locking up a phone system. Today I replaced the SD card (reformatted it first) and now the voice mail plays the prompts but no beeps. So when the recorded voice says 'leave your message after the tone' nothing happens because there is no tone. I also can't record aa greetings because it doesn't respond when I dial *8101.

I have all the licenses I should (R8 upgrade, essential, and 2 addl vm ports) and have upgraded the manager to 8.18 in case there was a magic fix there. I have rebooted the system and flipped it from Intuity mode to IP Office mode and back again. I am looking for any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

You need to use *8401 for recording the embedded menu.
Open monitor and go to filters.
Tick the right filters for embedded and dial and see which prompt it want's to play.
You are aware that it will only put some languages on the card?
You need to add your own language on it using manager.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I did add the language files. My problem is bigger than the automated attendants. When you call an extension, the default greeting plays, says record at the beep, and there is no beep. I left the site at about 8 and told the cust I would figure it out overnight... I will dial back in with monitor and see what it is doing.

The other thing on this that is worrisome (?) is that when I first did the install, I got an error message in red under monitor that said something about an sd card error. I called my distributor, and they said dont worry about it if everything is working (why do I listen to them???) When I did the 8.06 to 8.018 upgrade the red messages went away, but now I have 2 essential licenses; the real one and the virtual one. I don't know if the virtual one just goes away and/or if the addition of the virtual license is what made the red error messages go away.

Thank you for the suggestion about monitor and any others you may have; I have no idea how to fix this other than replacing the card for the third time and that is a problem due to their volume of calls.

I ran the monitor and there are a lot of 'clip not found' messages and then the call disconnects. I am going to the Avaya site to see if I can scare anything up. It is going to be a long night...

When I do filters/system/error (Avaya's suggestion for checking prompt sets) I am getting a lot of 'missing clips' line items. When I go into the sd card management it says I have all the files I need. Is there another source for checking for needed files?

Go to manager and then advanced -> embedded file management.
Then upload system files.
Although i think you better do this onsite :)

I did this already as well. I am not going to ask this correctly, but here is my attempt.... is there a source of files on the support site or the sso site that might have prompt and/or language pieces that I am missing? Because another weird thing is when the default voice mail answers, the part that says extension is missing... it says 'extension' and then a small pause where no number is given, and then the recording keeps on going.

recreate the SD Card form within manager
you are missing many speech prompts from this card.
if you get any sd card errors at this stage then ask for a replacement.

Somewhere in the do it all over again process I lost the language files. When I added them back all of my problems except the duplicate greeting were corrected and I posted a separate ?? regarding that. Working 19 hours straight befuddles the brain I think. Thank you to all who responded.
