I have a Meridian 1 Opt 11 that the hard drive has failed. I t will start up and then makes a clicking noise. The green light come on and then goes off. How and where can I find a new hard drive and software to repair the system. Thanks

Completly deassemble the Meridian Mail also the harddrive. Beat the harddrive with a screwdriver. Assemble and bootup Meridian Mail. 50% change the mail is working again.

do you haev the original install disk and keycodes? if not only nortel can issue those, and they are pricey. any vendor will have access to repair parts and i have found them listed on ebay. the drive is a scsi dirve. i recently had one die, i pulled it apart and put the disk stack in a new drive. worked long enough to get a backup and save my customer data to tape. it may have worked for years but i had a new one on hand. 90 percent of the time it's not the disk or data, it's the mech. side of a hd that dies. the problem with mine was two fold. my os was corrupt, non bootable. since a full backup formats a new drive and installs the (now nonbootable) os, my backup was useless. so i used the disk from the drive to get a partial backup, which saved my cust data. the above post sounds far fetched but, sometimes the disk just sticks, and that would fix it. i would pull the cover and either replace the mech side or at least check to see is the disk are free spinning. a clicking noise sounds like a bearing... any install tape, from any site, the same rls will work. the key codes are unique to your site.

If you can do as RS258 said to do and it starts running again I would do A Ghost image of that drive and buy a new hard drive and then Ghost the inage to the new one.
