vlans across WAN

To allow multiple vlans to cross a t1 do you just trunk the serial interface with ISL, or is it possible to trunk WAN links?

No, it is not possible. Why: Because the ISL technology is based on LAN Technologies there is no support for using ISL on a serial interface. But there might be another solution that satisfy your problem and/or objectives. So repost with the problem/objective that you are trying to accomplish and the forum should be able to help you out.

I disagree.. it is possible to trunk across a WAN link BUT... it's not recommended for many technologies. For example, with MPLS, you can run your VLANs across the WAN between a branch office and your corporate office.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Wybnormal that MPLS is probably what his/her solution will requires(I have implemented it on many occasions in the Service Provider and Enterprise World and is a very solid and standardized protocol especially in the newer codes), but he/she hasn't given enough info. on the objectives. As he/she states he/she wants to, "...trunk the serial interface with ISL...", which can't be done. That is why I asked him/her to repost with some more info. on what he/she is trying to accomplish. Does that clarify my answer?
