Hi. I have an old 486 PC with ASUS VL/I-486SV2GX4 motherboard and AMD DX4-100 CPU and 16 megs of Ram.
I tried to put more Memory into my motherboard, but if I put more than 16 megs of ram, PC shows 1 meg RAM only.
What cuold be the problem? Could it be the BIOS?
Other than the Memory Problem, PC seems to be running fine.

Thanks very much.

Unlikely that it is bios. Probably has to do with installing memory that the m/b doesn't like. What are you trying to add?
Lots of 486 didn't like the double memory (2 by anything and 8 by anything) but could handle 1x and 4x. Sounds like you have 4- 1x modules.
If you have motherboard documentation it will explain the memory limitations. Ed Fair
