HI, I'm thinking of learning VB, can anybody out there tell me whether the academic version will stop me doing anything the profesional version doesnt, or is there no difference in the two apart from the licences?

I just dont want academic version to hinder my learning.

Thanks

the exes made with academic will show a popup to show that they are made by academic, or that is what I understood.

With the acedemic version, MS doesn't give any support. Plus I think I read some where, the acedemic version has some schedulling (class, assignments, or something) or other class admin type program9s) included. If tou have a copy of visual studio 5 or 6, the professional upgrade is much cheaper than the full blown pro. version.

I have the acedemic version and it never has given me any popups when I build my exes. The main problem with my acedemic version is that it only includes the VB.net compiler and not the C# compiler. Also, it limits to only windows or web applications and doesn't allow you to build windows services. So it does limit what you can do big time. As soon as I get the $$$ I'm going to upgrade to professional. Hope that helps.

Hobeau, I think you have the standard version of vb.net and not the academic version of visual studio.
