I am having trouble installing Visual Studio Six on all of our new systems. They have 2.1 GHz Intel Celeron's, 522mb ram, and 36 GB of free hard drive space. It says "There is insufficient memory or disk space to run setup. The setup program requires about 2000kb of free disk space. I watched task manager while it is running setup and the CPU is running at 100% the entire time. It is doing this on all of our new systems. They don't have any problems with any other software. Our older systems with 1 GHz processors, 10 Gb hard drives and 128 megs of ram run it fine.

JHBenthall,

Sounds like an error message from the days of "16-bit" installers when the "free space" wrapped and went negative.

Does the install program correctly show the amount of "free disk space" and does that agree with the C: drive properties ?

Does the amount of installed memory display correctly on ControlPanel>System ?

You may want to buy a copy of Partition Magic, install it on one machine. Make the two recovery disks, boot from them and resize the drive to 10Gigs.

If VS6 installs, you have found the fix and then just resize the drive.

If not, it's time for more troubleshooting.
