When attempting to install Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise on Windows 2000 Professional I received the following error:

"Failed to register C:\Program Files\Common Files\designer\MSADDNDR.DLL"

Any idea what's going on here and how I can resolve it so I can install the program successfully? Thanks in advance for any help!

There could be a number of reasons why that's happening, even a corrupt file on your CD. However, unless you are using the DataReport designer, you don't need that file. If you can ignore the error, I'd say it was safe to go ahead with the install.

Thanks, Bob... but not quite...

The error presents itself in a msgbox with an OK button in it. Once you hit OK, another error appears that says:

"The visual studio setup failed. Please try re-running the installation wizard. For answers, blah, blah, blah go to the microsoft website at
Then, when I try to open VB, I get the Visual Basic Working Model Edition.... ????

Please help!!! Two days till deadline and this decides to act up!!!!

Thanks!

You say "Then, when I try to open VB, I get the Visual Basic Working Model Edition.... "
What happens if you search the CD for the file that errors? If it shows up on a search then ...
Do you have another edition or instance of Vb running on this same machine? Although they say that if you do, the earlier edition will be moved to another folder, I have found times when you get errors instead. If you DO have the earlier/lesser version on CD, I would uninstall it completly, including all shared files, then try the Enterprise Edition installation.
